The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Powered by Harrisburg University (CIE) held a successful hackathon called “Hacking4Recovery” on September 21, 2021. This design sprint-like event included 7 teams comprised of community members, business owners, corporate representatives, students, and faculty. Teams were challenged with developing important solutions to help businesses rebound from the devastating impact of Covid-19. Attendees traveled from as far as Philadelphia to witness these innovators and domain experts create well-defined problem statements suggesting new ideas and reinventing existing business models.

Notable attendees included the Honorable Patty Kim, PA’s Representative from the 103rd Legislative District. Rep. Kim provided closing remarks to help conclude this amazing day. David Dix, CEO of Luminous Strategies, and co-founder of the newly launched PA Chamber for Black Owned Business was also in attendance.

The CIE would like to thank The Hershey Company for sponsoring and co-organizing this event.
